What is currently planned

  • I intend to create a faster, lighter website framework where it is much easier to add new features.
  • The new web will use a WYSIWYG editor, meaning you don't have to remember how to use tags or how to create links etc. On top of that it will give the users lots of extra flexibility when creating their forum posts.
  • A more advanced character system. This system will be flexible, allowing for new games and character types as new games arrive and the current games expand.
  • A new event system that will take advantage of the new character system.
  • Site admins (council members etc) will now have full access to change stuff that previously had to be done through direct changes in the database. This includes, but is not limited to, Signup questions, character templates and sections.
  • A new forum, coded to be lighter and easier to extend than what we currently use. It'll be backwards compatible of course, meaning our old forum threads and posts will still exist in the new system.
  • Pages will be designed and generated through a Template system.

Feature requests

Anything specific anyone want implemented in the event, character or forum system for instance? Just edit this page and add it under this feature request heading.

  • Our wiki pages should link to a thread on our web(webby2) forums.
  • It should be possible to grant users access to specific forums, instead of having to create special groups everytime a new game section is created.
  • A low-bandwidth version with a template layout for smaller resolution would be nice for mobile surfing. Don't load avatar pictures or sigs, use text boxes rather than images for buttons, etc.
  • Support for ItemStats (there's a language switch on the right) throughout the site. Use mediawiki_itemstats.php to make it work with MediaWiki.
  • RSS feed support for news, forums and events.
  • Automatically send a message to someone if someone else signs them up to an event.
  • Possibility to remain logged in, if you tick a checkbox "remember me".
  • Instead of full forum backward compatibility, a cleanup so much less forums remain and discussion is less spread out. Less is more! Maybe only migrate threads that have changed in the past month or so, to weed out the inactive hangouts that are spreading misinformation.
  • Possibility to include things like YouTube movies [1].
  • A nice skin that looks like a standard Windows application would be nice for those of us who troll whilst at work :) ^^
  • Longer lifespan of the login session, preferably a checkbox "keep me logged in", but longer cookie life is fine too.
  • Seamless integration with wiki authorization for editing, leaving read access open for non-logged in people on the wiki.
